The Legacy Preparedness Scholarship Fund was created in memory of individuals known and loved by our family whose lives continue to remind us that readiness, compassion, and responsibility matter.
Through this program, Active Save-A-Life Training may award partial or full tuition assistance to selected applicants who want to develop practical skills in emergency response, trauma care, personal safety, preparedness, and responsible decision-making but may need financial assistance to attend training.
Our purpose is simple:
Honor lives remembered by helping others become prepared to protect life when seconds matter.
What the Scholarship May Cover
Awards may be applied toward part or all of the instructional tuition cost for eligible Active Save-A-Life Training classes or approved training pathways, which may include:
- CPR/AED and First Aid Training
- Stop the Bleed / Trauma Response Training
- Summer Save-A-Life Camp
- Personal Safety and Protective Intelligence Training
- Eligible portions of CCW or firearms safety training
- The ASALT Responder Program, when approved
Awards may be partial or full, depending on available funding, the requested course, applicant circumstances, and program approval.
What the Scholarship Does Not Cover
Unless expressly approved in writing, scholarship awards cover tuition only and do not include:
- Range fees
- Ammunition
- Firearms, holsters, protective gear, or personal equipment
- External certification, card-processing, testing, or credential fees, when required
- Transportation, fuel, lodging, or travel expenses
- Meals, snacks, drinks, or personal supplies
- Optional materials or equipment
- Costs associated with missed classes, rescheduling, late arrival, or failure to complete training
Who May Apply
Applicants may seek assistance for themselves or, where applicable, for a minor participant through a parent or legal guardian.
Selection may consider:
- Financial need
- Reason for seeking training
- Interest in preparedness, safety, or community responsibility
- Course availability
- Ability to attend and complete the requested training
- Availability of scholarship resources
- Suitability for the specific class or program
For courses involving firearms, concealed carry, or live-fire range participation, all ordinary registration, legal eligibility, safety screening, waiver, and range requirements remain applicable. A scholarship award does not guarantee eligibility or participation.
How the Application Process Works
- Complete the scholarship application form.
- Identify the class or program for which assistance is requested.
- Explain why the training matters to you and the level of assistance requested.
- ASALT reviews the request based on available scholarship capacity, course availability, and program requirements.
- Approved applicants receive written notice explaining the amount awarded, covered tuition, excluded expenses, completion deadline, and any additional registration requirements.
Submission of an application does not guarantee an award, enrollment, course placement, or reservation of a seat.
Award Conditions
Use this section to protect the program:
- Awards are subject to available scholarship resources and class availability.
- Awards are made at ASALT’s discretion based on stated program criteria.
- Awards may be partial or full tuition assistance.
- Awards are not redeemable for cash.
- Awards may not be transferred to another person without written authorization.
- Recipients must complete ordinary registration, consent, waiver, safety, and eligibility requirements for the selected class.
- Awards may expire if not used within the stated approval period.
- Failure to attend, late cancellation, removal for unsafe conduct, or failure to comply with course requirements may result in forfeiture of the award.
- ASALT may modify, pause, or discontinue the program when funding or operational capacity is unavailable.
Memorial Statement
This program exists in memory of people whose lives mattered. Their names, stories, and influence remind us that a meaningful life continues through the care, courage, and preparedness we build in others. Some memorials leave behind more than stone and memories. They remind us to value life, care for others, and be prepared.
