Colorado SB25-003 / FSP Background Check Resource

Colorado Firearms Safety Eligibility Card Background Check

Applicants seeking a Colorado Firearms Safety Course Eligibility Card may need a name-based background check before moving forward with the Colorado Firearms Safety Program process.

Active Save-A-Life Training does not run, review, receive, or store your background-check report. You order the report directly through MyTruSeal / TruDiligence, receive it directly, and submit it to your sheriff’s office as instructed.

Before You Begin

This page is for applicants who need a background-check resource connected to the Colorado SB25-003 / Firearms Safety Program process. The background-check portal is operated by TruDiligence / MyTruSeal, not by Active Save-A-Life Training.

ASALT’s Role

ASALT provides public education, training information, and a pathway to the MyTruSeal portal. ASALT does not process the background check and does not receive the report through this form.

MyTruSeal’s Role

MyTruSeal / TruDiligence provides the secure background-check ordering portal. You enter sensitive background-check information directly into their system, not into this ASALT page.

Applicant’s Role

You order the report, pay MyTruSeal directly, receive the completed report, and submit it to the appropriate sheriff’s office as instructed.

Important Clarification

Current guidance and county practices may vary. The requirement has been described as a name-based background check using Colorado and national judicial or public criminal-history database sources. Confirm your sheriff’s current instructions before relying on any third-party report.

How the Background-Check Step Works

This process is intentionally separated. ASALT collects basic profile and training-interest information only. The actual background-check order happens through TruDiligence / MyTruSeal.

1

Complete the ASALT Access Form

Enter your name, contact information, county, training interest, and basic reason for the request. Do not enter SSN, date of birth, address history, or criminal-history details here.

2

Go to MyTruSeal

After submission, this page redirects you to the TruDiligence / MyTruSeal portal. That is where the background-check order is placed.

3

Submit Report to Sheriff

Once you receive the completed report, follow your sheriff’s instructions for submitting it with the eligibility-card application materials.

Confirm With Your Sheriff Before Ordering

County practices can differ. Before ordering a report, confirm the current requirements with your local sheriff’s office.

Accepted Report Type

Ask whether the sheriff’s office accepts a third-party name-based background-check report for the eligibility-card process.

Submission Method

Ask whether the report should be uploaded, emailed, printed, brought in person, or submitted through a specific state or county process.

Timing and Fees

Ask about county processing times, sheriff fees, CPW-related fees, proof-of-address requirements, and any other local instructions.

Continue to the MyTruSeal Background-Check Portal

Complete the brief ASALT profile form below. When you submit, your profile information is sent to Klaviyo for ASALT follow-up records, then you are redirected to the secure TruDiligence / MyTruSeal background-check portal.

Do Not Enter Sensitive Background-Check Data Here

This ASALT form is not the background-check application. Do not enter your Social Security number, date of birth, address history, criminal-history details, driver’s license number, or other sensitive background-check information here. That information belongs only inside the secure TruDiligence / MyTruSeal portal.

By continuing, you will leave the Active Save-A-Life Training website and go to the TruDiligence / MyTruSeal portal. MyTruSeal’s own terms, privacy policy, payment process, fees, and background-check workflow apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

These answers explain ASALT’s role and the separation between this page, Klaviyo profile collection, and the TruDiligence / MyTruSeal background-check process.

Does ASALT receive my background-check report?

No. The report is ordered by you, paid for by you, and returned directly to you through the MyTruSeal / TruDiligence process. ASALT does not receive the report through this website form.

Where does this page form information go?

The basic profile information entered on this ASALT page is sent to Klaviyo as an ASALT profile record. It is not submitted to Articulation Forms unless ASALT separately rebuilds this as an Articulation native form.

Is this the same as a CCW / CHP background check?

No. Colorado Firearms Safety Program requirements and Colorado CCW / CHP requirements are separate. Do not assume one process automatically satisfies the other.

What happens after I get the report?

Follow your local sheriff’s instructions. You may need to submit the report with your eligibility-card application materials before enrolling in the applicable firearms safety course.

Are fees charged by ASALT?

No fee is added by ASALT for using this link. Background-check fees, payment terms, and any court or jurisdictional fees are handled by MyTruSeal / TruDiligence and shown through their portal.

Should I contact my sheriff before ordering?

Yes. County practices may vary. Applicants should confirm the accepted background-check format, submission method, sheriff fees, timing, and any local instructions before relying on a third-party report.

Final Notice

This page is informational and is not legal advice. ASALT does not determine eligibility, issue eligibility cards, classify firearms, approve transfers, conduct sheriff review, or guarantee that any specific report will be accepted by a particular county. Applicants must verify current requirements with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the local sheriff’s office, the applicable FFL dealer, and qualified legal counsel where appropriate.
